"I've just received my Shipping Forecast print which is a present for my
brother's 40th birthday. I wanted to say how beautifully it is packaged.
I don't feel bad about not getting the framed version now! Thanks, I'm
sure he'll love it."

Cake!
A very pleasant morning's typesetting complicated slightly by the wavy rules being of french origin and bearing no resemblance at all to the anglo-american point system but vive la difference. Question is: have I inadvertently designed the next Tory/Republican campaign poster?

Meeting Mr Alan Kitching
I had the very good fortune yesterday to travel up to London to see the Alan Kitching exhibition at Advanced Graphics, Long Lane…

…and arrived precisely at the same time as the great man himself! So I was able to look at his fantastic show and have a chat about his work. Splendid! The show consists of several typographic maps and copious examples of his ‘typographic expressionism’ – well worth a visit!

I think I'm turning Japanese (I really think so)
Maria Zaramella of Novepunti drew my attention to this article on the development of moveable type in the East:

Padstow edition framed
Went to Thomas Rainsford Picture framers today to pick up a copy of the Padstow edition of the Shipping Forecast which will be sailing to Rick Stein's The Seafood Restaurant, Padstow – commissioned by Jill Stein herself. Thomas has framed it in limed ash and mighty fine it looks too. 2.1 metres long (conveniently one fathom) - will be a test of my packaging skills!
